Lafayette & West Lafayette Lead Teacher Job Description Assistant Teacher Job Description To serve as the classroom leader by providing a developmentally appropriate child care environment in which children can learn.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for modeling best practices in early childhood care and education.
He or She will create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans using Creative Curriculum, direct the work of other staff in the classroom, and maintain positive, supportive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Provide quality care and continuous supervision of children at all times.
Create and implement Creative Curriculum-approved lesson plans and activities.
Maintain daily communication with parents through verbal and written documentation and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences to discuss the child's individual goals and progress regularly and as needed.
As a functional supervisor- responsibilities, include training, coaching, and assisting the teaching team in the classroom.
Evaluate classroom and individual progress by completing regular observations and assessments and recording outcomes.
To support the Lead Teacher by helping to provide a developmentally appropriate environment in which children can learn.
The Assistant Teacher performs various activities to assist and support the Lead Teacher in the classroom and may be asked to serve as the Lead Teacher during short absences as long as the Assistant Teacher meets licensing and accreditation requirements to do so.
He or She will help to ensure that licensing, accreditation, and Agency standards, policies, and procedures are met and maintained at all times.
Provide quality care and continuous supervision of children at all times Assist the Lead Teacher in the development and execution of curriculum and lesson plans Assist children with self-care activities to ensure their health and safety needs are met, such as sleep/wake, routines, personal cleanliness, and bathroom routines, meal and snack service, etc.
Assist with Center and classroom record keeping and observations in compliance with the policies and procedures of the program Greet parents, children, and visitors and provide information and feedback as needed.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
